A Little History Of Grace Assembly

In the late 90's a Bible Study group began to meet in the basement of the McCooeye home in North Gower. There was also a bearevment group meeting at the Richmond Library. Both these meeting were under the guidance of Rev. Barb Richardson. At one of the prayer meetings it was decided to start a church in Richmond and the church's name would be called "Grace Assembly" Pastor Barb joined the prayer group and the bearevment group to start the church.

Grace Assembly started April of 2000 with Pastor Barb as their founding Pastor. In the fall of 2001 Pastor Jim MacInnes came on board as an Associate Pastor. In 2002 Pastor Jim became Senior Pastor of the church. Also in 2002 Grace Assembly became affiliated with the PAOC as a Developing Assembly with a Steering Committee. Under Pastor Jims direction the church moved from the library to the Richmond Plaza in unit 33.  Pastor Jim was very successful with the Alpha Course and other outreach ministries that helped the less fortunate.

In 2006 Pastor John Spurrell became the Senior Pastor. In 2007 "Youth Hang Out" began.  Another achievment in 2007, Grace Assembly became Sovreign with a Pastor's Council. In 2008 under the direction of Pastor John the church expanded and now occupies both unit 33 now as a Youth & Children's Centre and unit 36 as the main sanctuary in the Richmond Plaza.

This not complete but is still being worked on. If you know of more history of this church please forward it to Pastor John.
